814,769. Coating yarns or webs. MASCHINENFABRIK RUTI AKTIENGESELLSCHAFT VORM. CASPAR HONNEGER. Nov. 19, 1956, No. 35359/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 140. Apparatus for dry-sizing yarns, textiles, and the like comprises at least two rollers one of which is adapted to feed molten sizing agent to the yarns or textiles and has directed at its surface an air doctor nozzle which extends across the working width of the feed roller, is provided with heating means, and is supplied from a source of compressed air. The lips of the doctor nozzle are adjustable relatively to each other as by screw means which may be connected together by rack and pinion gearing. Compressed air may be supplied to the doctor nozzle at both ends of the feed roller and the amount of sizing material applied to the yarns &c. controlled by varying the air blast from the nozzle either by means of valves in the compressed air lines or by control of the source of compressed air. This control can be effected manually or automatically in accordance with the speed of the feed roller. The feed roller is itself supplied by contact with a roller partially immersed in the molten sizing material.
