Abstract
848,902. Brick &c. kilns. HASTROP, W. T. Aug. 30, 1956 [June 6, 1955], No. 16236/55. Class 51 (2). A kiln for firing ceramics has stokers disposed in evenly spaced firing spaces 1 in the peripheral wall 2, and a fan 3 with a controlled air inlet 4 supplying air to the stokers through a valve 10 and an underground duct 5 terminating in a vertical duct in the kiln centre with radial branch ducts in the kiln floor, Fig. 2 (not shown). Waste gases pass through a main 13 under control of a damper 15 to a chimney 14, and a branch 16 with a valve 17 leads to the fan inlet. A valve-controlled offtake 11 on the outlet side of the fan allows of the diversion of hot gases to other kiln stokers, drying ovens, &c. Fig. 3 shows four kilns disposed around a common chimney 14, an additional branch duct 18 leading from each main 13 to distributing ducts 19 in the dome of the adjacent kiln in a clockwise direction. Each duct 18 is also controllably connected to the fan 3 serving said adjacent kiln.
