Abstract

846,739. Securing carpets to floors. ROBINSON, F. W. April 22, 1958 [April 23, 1957], No. 12862/57. Class 142(4). [Also in Group XXV] A spiked plate 10 for fixing a carpet in position comprises spikes 15 pressed out of the plate to pierce the underface of the carpet and holes 16 for screws &c. to secure the plate to the floor. The plate is stepped as shown to accommodate an underfelt. Where the floor is unsuitable to receive screws, the end of the plate is bent-up so that the screws &c. may be driven into the skirting. In a modification the pressed-out spikes are replaced by nails secured by welding or brazing and the plate may be corrugated to cause the nails to incline towards the holes 16. The holes 16 may be replaced by spikes bent from the plate for driving into the floor.
