Abstract
844,409. Fork lift trucks. YALE & TOWNE MANUFACTURING CO. Nov. 27, 1957, No. 36957/57. Class 78 (3). [Also in Group XXVIII] Primary uprights of the mast assembly of a fork lift truck comprise outwardly-facing channel members 11 to which are secured a cross-member 15 and plates 12, 13 to form a rigid hollow structure in which is mounted an hydraulic ram 24, 25 and which forms a reservoir 15a for the hydraulic system of the truck. The ram 24, 25 engages a bracket 26 on secondary uprights 17 which are guided by rollers 20 on the primary uprights and which support a second ram 27, 28 for raising a lifting carriage 21 on the secondary uprights by means of chains 29 passing over rollers 31 mounted on the piston 28. In operation, fluid passes through a channel .41 in the piston 25 to ramcylinder 27, via a pipe (not shown), to raise the carriage 21 on the secondary uprights before raising the secondary uprights on the primary uprights, as described in Specification 630,168. In order that the piston 28 may have a. longer effective stroke, rollers 31 do not have flanges at their inner edges and flanges 32 may extend down past the sides of cylinder 27. Power cables or hoses 44, 45, 46 leading to the carriage 21 are attached between chains 29 by spacer clips 33.
