842,433. Two-stroke engines. DE MARTIN, R. R. Sept. 25, 1958 [Oct. 1, 1957], No. 30696/58. Class 7(2). In an engine in which combustible mixture is drawn into the crankcase via a flap valve 54 and delivered to the working cylinder via a transfer duct 84, a working piston enlargement 44 draws in scavenge air via a flap valve 74 and delivers it via a piston cut-out 88 to the duct 84 at piston T.D.C. ready for entry to the working cylinder in front of the mixture at the end of the next power stroke. The engine may be air or water cooled and operate with spark or compression ignition, and may have a detachable cylinder head.
