Abstract

841,418. Tyre trim rings. DRABING, W. July 4, 1958 [July 22, 1957], No. 21441/58. Class 144 (2). A detachable white-wall tyre sidewall trim ring comprising a curved inner peripheral portion 8 which is clamped between the tyre bead 7 and the flange of the wheel rim 6 has a flat outer peripheral trim portion 1 which is provided at its radially inner and outer regions with circumferential ribs 3, 2 respectively on its tyre facing surface to bear on the tyre sidewall, defining an air space 4 therebetween, and thereby reduce friction between the trim ring and the tyre sidewall in the event of relative creep. The rib 2 may have a bearing insert of smooth-surfaced abrasion-resistant synthetic plastic or the like, and the inner periphery of the ring portion 8 may have a rib 9 to seat under the tyre bead heel.
