Abstract

840,845. Apparatus for reducing either snaking or pitching in coupled vehicles. SCOTT, J. M. Oct. 22 1956 [Oct. 24, 1955; April 11, 1956], Nos. 30302/55 and 11046/56. Class 103(5). A tractor trailer combination has means to reduce either snaking or pitching, which means comprises an arm 8 secured to the tow bar 5 and pivoted to an arm 9, a friction or other damper 10 at the joint, and a link 11 pivotally attached at one end to the trailer and at its other end pivotally and adjustably attached to the arm 9. The reducing means may be mounted either in a horizontal plane to prevent snaking or in a vertical plane to prevent pitching, and ball joints may be provided at the pivot points.
