Abstract

840,179. Roofing tiles. McKNIGHT, D. Jan. 22, 1959 [Jan. 29, 1958], No. 3009/58. Addition to 780,848. Class 87(1) The roofing tile described and claimed in the parent Specification is modified by the provision of means, such as a nib 20 along the lower edge, so that along the-head lap between two tiles one above the other, the groove or grooves 13, 14 on the upper face of the lower tile are spaced from the rib or ribs 15, 16 on the lower face of the upper tile. The groove or grooves 13, 14 may be provided with a fall in one direction so that moisture collecting therein can run off into the grooved rebated side lock portion 7. The bottom faces of the groove or grooves 13, 14 merge at 13<SP>1</SP> with the edge of the tile. The ribs on the underside of the rebate 8 defining the grooves 10, 12 may be cut away at the upper end of the tile to assist in discharge of moisture from the groove or grooves 13, 14.
