Abstract
The invention comprises 6-purinyl-D-thioglucopyranoside and 6 - purinyl - D - thioglucopyranuronide. They may be prepared by reacting 6-mercaptopurine with the chloride of the acetylated glycosyl radical in the presence of aqueous alkali, followed by deacetylation of the tetra- and tri-acetyl compounds using ethanolic ammonia. The ammonium salt of the pyranuronide is described. The Provisional Specification describes compounds of the formula <FORM:0838821/IV (b)/1> wherein X is hydrogen or amino and R is an alkyl, hydroxyalkyl, oxoalkyl, carboxyalkyl, aralkyl (with or without substituents such as alkyl groups or halogen atoms in the aryl nucleus) or glycosyl radical, and their preparation by reaction of the appropriate mercapto purine with the halide of the desired substituent radical R (or a derivative thereof).
