Abstract

838,087. Valves. CONEX-TERNA Ltd., and WHITWORTH, F. Oct. 31,1957 [Nov. 1, 1956], No. 33330/56. Class 135. A fusible cut-off valve comprises a body 10 having an inlet 11 and an outlet 12, a closure member in the form of a ball 17 held off its seating 16 by a ported tubular abutment member which seats on a disc 22 soldered to the inner walls of a plug member 19. When the valve is subjected to excessive heat the solder will melt releasing the disc 22 and allowing the abutment member 20 to drop and the ball 17 to seat to close the valve. The ball may be biased in a closing direction by a spring 18. Downward movement of the abutment member 20 is limited by a shoulder 24 engaging a shoulder 25 in the plug member. A shroud 26 is provided to prevent accidental damage to the disc 22.
