Abstract

837,665. Valve gear. FORD MOTOR CO. Ltd. Sept. 24, 1958 [Sept. 24, 1957], No. 30472/58. Class 7(6) A valve rocker 6 is pivoted on a spherical bearing surface 4 and maintained in position by a spring 10 disposed between the end of the rocker and the valve 11. The rocker 6 has a ball bearing 5 welded thereto and a pair of rockers are supported side by side in bearing surfaces 4 formed in a support 3 secured to a pillar 1 on the cylinder head. The spring 10 is seated at one end in the valve spring abutment 12 and at the other end against a shoulder on the clearance adjusting screw 13. In Fig. 4 the support member 3 rests against support surfaces 20 and is secured by a screw 2 to the central support 1, the clearance 21 permitting tightening of the screw to force the balls 5 into the surfaces 4.
