Abstract
<PICT:0837218/IV(c)/1> Apparatus for liquid treating a fabric beam 60 comprises a stainless steel tank 10 having steam heating coils and liquid inlet and outlet conduits, and a beam-supporting cradle 48 fixed to a wheeled end door 14 and movable longitudinally with the door on rails 62 in the tank. In operation the cradle is withdrawn from the tank by pulling back the door 14, and a beam is loaded on to the cradle which is then pushed into the tank until the door may be closed. A hand wheel 86 on the door is then operated to force sealing plates 88 and 100 into contact with the beam, and liquid supplied to the tank through conduit 98 from pump 90 is then passed radially through the beam to an outlet conduit 104, a valve 96 being provided to allow the liquid flow to be reversed. The liquid may be heated to a temperature of 300 DEG F. or above, at a pressure up to 50 lb. per square inch. Conventional water, steam and drain lines and valving may be incorporated, and auxiliary equipment such as expansion tanks and sample and additive chambers may be used. U.S.A.
