Abstract
566,616. Impregnating-apparatus. TILLS, J. W., and LOVATT, J. B. Aug. 10, 1943, No. 12927. [Class 140] [Also in Group XXVIII] An impregnating vessel 13 is evacuated by a jet pump, Fig. 1, using as working fluid vapour of an impregnating liquid used in the plant and having a liquid connection to one of the vessels of the plant. The boiler 11 supplies vapour to a standpipe 17 and jet 20 in a condenser 21 cooled by a water jacket connected with a jacket 30 round the pipe 29 leading to a backing pump 37. A high vacuum connection 25 is provided on the condenser. Condensate flows round the standpipe to pipes 35, 33 leading through the boiler and to a storage vessel 39 with a drawoff valve. A liquid pipe 12 connects the boiler and impregnating vessel. The vessel 39 may be omitted, the pipe 33 then leading back to the impregnating vessel, and pipe 12 then having an interposed gear pump, the supply from which may be controlled by a floatactuated valve to feed the boiler.
