Abstract

836,933. Work-hoiders. POLLAK, R. Sept. 10, 1958 [Sept. 13, 1957], No. 28873/57. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXXIV] A work-holder for a machine-tool comprises an indexable table 9 having a boss 6, which can be adjusted along a slot 5 in a plate 1 and clamped by fluid pressure. The table is clamped by compressed air passed into a bore 17 of a piston rod 13 by operation of a valve 22. In its other position, the valve 22 supplies air to chambers 19, 20, causing the table to " float " and facilitate adjustment thereof. At the same time, air passes through a bore 30 to unclamp the table positively. To allow rotational, but not longitudinal, movement of the table, a bracket 32, Fig. 2, may be clamped to the plate 1. The table is then adjusted angularly against a scale 35, 36 by a knurled roller 37, which can be pushed into engagement with the table. Alternatively, a modified bracket 32, Fig. 3, may carry a pivoted arm 39 engaging indexing pins 43, 45 on the table. Coolant is retained in a flexible tray 46, 48. Air for operating devices on the table is supplied from the clamping supply through a bore 49 and pipes 50, 51.
