835,347. Woodworking tools. CLARKE, G. Dec. 12, 1958 [Dec. 12, 1957], No. 38632/57. Class 145. A blade 1 for a rotary woodworking cutter or the tool for a wood-turning lathe has a recess which is provided behind the cutting edge 2 and forms a chip-breaking edge 7. A straight or profiled cutting edge may be used and the edge 7 is parallel with or complementary to it. The angle between the faces 4 and 6 may be a right angle or other than a right angle and the front face 5 of the blade may be flat or, as shown, inclined up to the edge 7. The recess may be formed in the course of manufacture or ground in an existing blade or the edge 7 may be provided by securing a strip-like part to the front face 5.
