Abstract
626,812. Milling-cutters. SANDVIKENS JERNVERKS AKTIEBOLAG. Aug. 26, 1947, No. 23580. Convention date, Oct. 4, 1946. [Class 83 (iii)] A detachable blade milling-cutter with means for clamping each blade against the side wall of its groove in the body portion, has the side of the tool facing the bottom of the groove resting thereon at a point near the front end while the rear part of the tool is spaced away from the bottom of the groove. In one form of tool for end-working, Fig. 2, the grooves 4 in the body are tapered towards the rear of the tool giving a bearing point at 8 for the tool 2, its rear end 7 being spaced from the groove bottom. Clamping screws secure the cutter against a side face of the groove. This enables the cutters to be set by engaging the cutting edges with a step 10 in a work-piece or template and moving it until the bearing point 8 is contacted. The cutters may be set at differing projections by the use of a stepped template. In another form of tool, Fig. 10, the cutters 18 are located in inclined grooves in the face of the cutter body and are located at 20. Wedges 22, Fig. 11, may be used to secure the cutters, these being moved against the side face of the tools by further wedges 21 and screws 23.
