Abstract

835,328. Paper bags. BOWATER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO. Ltd. Aug. 27, 1958 [Aug. 29, 1957], No. 27305/57. Class 94(2). The multi-ply blockbottom valve bag described in Specification 754,578 is provided with additional barrier strips 100, 101 interposed between the innermost barrier ply A and the other plies B,C. The strips 100, 101 extend longitudinally of the bag and as at B4 cover those areas of the plies B, C which are not covered by the ply A and which would be exposed to the interior of the bag when its corners are completed. Thus those areas are completely mashed by the strips 100, 101 which may be of the same material as the ply A. The strips are not usually attached to the other plies being held in position by the friction between them but they may if desired be stuck to either adjacent ply. The strips may be only a plastic film in which case they are stuck over most of their length to another ply.
