Abstract

833,736. Laundry feeding arrangements. BROADBENT & SONS Ltd., T. May 28, 1958 [June 24, 1957], No. 19771/57. Class 138 (2). [Also in Group XVI] In a machine, such as a folding machine for laundry flatwork, in which articles f of fabric &c. travel on an endless conveyer h, a switchactuating arm b intercepts an air jet d directed on to and through the conveyer if and when the flow of articles on the conveyer fails or is interrupted, so that the switch is then operated to control the machine, the normal flow of articles on the conveyer preventing the air jet impinging on the arm b. The air jet impinges on a cup-like part c on the arm b, and overcomes the action of a spring g in the switch a to open the switch. In a modification, the air jet may be used to close the switch. The fabric f is supported on a belt h made up of a number of spaced lengths of material so that the air jet can pass through the gaps between them.
