832,470. Metal-vapour converters. WASCHINENFABRIK OERLIKON. Sept. 2, 1958 [Sept. 20, 1957], No. 28198/58. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(1). Part of the envelope of a single-anode mercury vapour rectifier consists of a cast iron alloy in order to minimize eddy currents in the envelope. The alloy may comprise iron with a carbon content of more than about 2% together with manganese, silicon or chromium. The anode and cathode plates of the rectifier may be made of the cast iron alloy while the cylindrical wall and the anode protecting sleeve consist of a non-magnetic austenitic alloy containing iron, chromium and nickel, or may consist of a steel alloy with a high content of silicon and manganese.
