Abstract

830,852. Continuous-casting machines. BOHLER & CO. A.G., GEB. Jan. 13, 1958 [Jan. 11, 1957], No. 1126/58. Class 83 (1). In a continuous-casting apparatus having guiding- rolls 4, those guiding-rollbearings which are located one under another are connected by pivotal elements such as chain links 9, to enable the rolls to adapt themselves to curvature of the casting, which may arise due to shrinkage, for example. Spacing members 7 may comprise means such as springs so that the distance between the rolls of a pair may adapt itself to the passage of the starting-piece, and to shrinkage in the casting. Further the bearings 5 of the top pair of rolls are pivotally suspended at each side of the casting from a fixed point 6.
