830,364. Magnetic heads ; reducing wear. PYE Ltd. June 6, 1958 [June 7, 1957], No. 18202/57. Class 40 (2). Wear of magnetic heads by the record is reduced by passing the record over a member of polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) such that those portions of the record which are to contact the heads are arranged previously to contact the PTFE member. Where the record is of tape form, the PTFE member may form that portion of a conventional tape-guide against which the tape rubs.
