Abstract
829,689. Electromagnetic relays. TELEPHONE MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Aug. 20, 1957 [Aug. 27, 1956], No. 26171/56. Class 38 (5). [Also in Group XXV] The mounting strips for the armature of an electromagnetic relay comprise at least two strips mounted face-to-face on each side of the armature. In Fig. 1 the armature 15 of a polarized relay similar to that of Specification 781,641 moves between polepieces 8, 9 and carries a contact member 31 with contacts 30. The armature is mounted on two flat springs 20a, 20b clamped in a slot 21 and secured at their outer ends by screws 23. In Fig. 2 the armature comprises two parts 40, 41 riveted together at 42 and provided with slots 43, 44, to retain a set of three springs 20 which are riveted together at 45. The holes in the springs 20 through which the screws 23 pass may fit tightly on the screws to prevent the springs sliding over one another. Alternatively the holes in the two outer strips may be enlarged to allow sliding movement so that the resultant friction tends to reduce contact-chatter. In Fig. 3 two right-angle strips 20c, 20d, each similar to those disclosed in Specification 734,352, are mounted on each side of the armature which is cut away at 52 to allow for expansion on rise of temperature. The construction of Fig. 1 may be modified to permit adjustment of the armature 15 in the manner described in Specification 781,642.
