Abstract

The invention comprises 1,2-dicyano-3,5-dithia - 1 - cyclopenten - 4 - thione and 1,2 - dicyano - 3,5 - dithia - 1 - cyclopenten - 4 - one, and the preparation thereof by reacting a salt of 1,2 - dicyano - 1,2 - dimercaptoethylene with thiophosgene or phosgene, or with compounds which yield phosgene or thiophosgene under the conditions of the reaction such as the trichloromethyl ester of chloroformic acid, the perchloromethyl ester of oxalic acid or di-(trichloromethyl) carbonate.
