Abstract

829,390. Clamps. LAMBRETTA CONCESSIONAIRES Ltd. Feb. 12, 1958 [Feb. 12, 1957], No. 4677/58. Class 44 A device for coupling together two components, for example the handlebars and windscreen supporting rod of a motor scooter, comprises a sleeve 1 formed in halves 2, 3 of resiliently deformable material, e.g. rubber, the halves being brought together to grip one of the handlebars therebetween by a pair of rigid half collars 9, 10 secured together by bolts 15, 16 which pass through projecting portions 11, 12 and 13, 14 on the half collars. The bolt 15 is provided with a nut 17 and the bolt 16 has screwed thereon a gripping means 18 which is bored to receive the supporting rod and is longitudinally split for gripping the rod when a bolt 19, passing through apertures in the split portion, is tightened. The sleeve 1 preferably has a slightly conical bore formed with a pair of longitudinal grooves 6. The handlebars may be of non-circular curved crosssection wherein the minimum radius of curvature is less than the minimum radius of curvature of the sleeve and the maximum dimension is smaller than the minimum internal dimension of the sleeve.
