Abstract
<FORM:0827447/IV(c)/1> <FORM:0827447/IV(c)/2> A cloth web, immediately before it is wound on to a roll, passes in contact with a steam tube extending along the roll and resiliently bearing against the same, and steam is ejected through holes in the tube into the space where the web forms a tangent with the roll. As shown, cloth web 19 passes in a zig-zag path over rollers 25 and under rollers 23 immersed in a vat 13 of treating liquor, and then between rubber squeeze rollers 15, 17 which remove excess liquor. It then passes under guide roller 27 before being contacted by steam tube 33 carried by two parallel swinging arms 39 pivoted at 41. Steam is emitted through holes 37 along tube 33, which is held in engagement with roll 31 and web 19 throughout the treatment period.
