Abstract

[Also in Group XXV] A bolted joint structure comprises a wooden frame member 16 having a recess 19 extending thereinto, a rigid metal connector part 13 extending into said recess, and a fastener assembly 15 including a threaded stud 24 extending through an opening 29 in the connector part, said frame member containing passages 26 at opposite sides of the connector part aligned with and of larger diameter than the stud, said fastener assembly having two portions received within said passages and in engagement with the walls thereof at least one of said portions being a nut 27 threadedly connected to the stud. The connector part 13 is initially connected to the frame member by a bolt 14 after which the fastener assembly 15 is attached. In an embodiment two cylindrical nuts 25 having hexagonal recesses 28 are screwed on to the stud to form a fastener assembly capable of effectively transmitting very great forces without damage to any of the connected parts. In another embodiment a pair of vertically extending frame members 31 (Fig. 4), are provided with a pair of cylindrical aligned parts 33 for accommodating a metal connector member 35 having transverse bores 36 in its end portions 37 for receiving the stud of the fastener assembly.
