Abstract

827,095. Waveguide windows. METROPOLITAN-VICKERS ELECTRICAL CO. Ltd. May 9, 1958 [May 2, 1957], No. 14064/57. Class 40 (8). A waveguide window is cooled by supplying air or gas through a hollow inductive matching post to an aperture located in said post so as to direct a jet of said air or gas on to the window. In the arrangement shown the vacuum sealed output waveguide 1 of a klystron is coupled to a waveguide 2 open to the air by means of a dielectric window 3. Two hollow inductive matching posts 4 and 5 each containing an aperture 6, are connected to air feed pipes 7 and 8. The air flow may be turbulent, and a scanning effect may be achieved by varying the pressure of the air supply to each post.
