Abstract

825,846. A dolly for an automatic garage. SICOMATIC A.G. Feb. 10, 1956 [Feb. 11, 1955], No. 4213/56. Class 78 (4). A positioning dolly for parking a vehicle in an automatic garage comprises two pairs of wheel-engaging, and-lifting forks, one pair 11, 11<SP>1</SP> of which is carried by the main frame 5 of the dolly to engage a pair of wheels 20 of the vehicle, and the other pair of which 11<SP>2</SP>, 113 is carried by an auxiliary frame 30 sliding longitudinally in the said main frame to engage the other pair of wheels 33 of the vehicle. As shown, forks 11, 11<SP>1</SP> run on wheels 12, 12<SP>1</SP> in channels carried by frame 9 and are operated by fluid cylinder 13 via racks 16, 16<SP>1</SP> and pinion 17 to diverge to engage wheels 20 of the vehicle to be parked. The frame 9 is then raised by means of fluid cylinders 22, 22<SP>1</SP>, which cause wheels 25, 25<SP>1</SP> to engage sloping surfaces on the frame 9, so that forks 11, 11<SP>1</SP> lift the wheels off the ground. Similarly, the other wheels 33 of the vehicle are engaged by forks 112, 11<SP>3</SP> which are lifted similarly to engage and lift the said other wheels 33 off the ground frame being in addition movable lengthwise of the dolly by fluid cylinder 29 and being guided therealong by rollers 32 so as to allow for vehicles of differing wheel base. The fluid cylinders may be initiated by impact on block 35.
