Abstract

825,518. Dry shavers. SIEMENSSCHUCKERTWERKE A. G. Dec. 20 1956 [Feb. 29, 1956], No. 38888/56. Class 131 A dry shaver comprises two co-operating cutting elements, a drive member for moving one of the elements relatively to the other and a noise-suppressing, rubber &c. carrier for the driven element. As shown, the cutter head is a hollow rubber body 1 to which an outer cutting element 2 is secured by a push fit or glued joint. A movable inner cutting element 3 has lugs 4 and a central rib 5 engaged in projections 7 and an apertured diaphragm 8 of the body 1, respectively, a drive member 6 extending through the rib 5 to oscillate the cutting element. Engagement of the lugs 4 in the projections 7 depresses and tensions the projections so that the inner cutter is resiliently urged against the outer cutter. In a modification shown at the right-hand side of Fig. 1 the outer cutting element is secured in a rigid polyamide sleeve 9 which encloses the rubber body 1. The driving motor may be encased in a rubber body.
