[Also in Group XXXV] A copper conductor is coated with a layer of silicon dioxide which contains 0.01-1% of one or more of the metals arsenic, cerium, iron, cobalt, copper and vanadium, to prevent flaking of the conductor at high temperatures. An additional covering of a silicone resin or of glass silk may be applied. Methods of applying the coating are described.
