Abstract
The invention comprises compounds of the general formula <FORM:0823338/IV (a)/1> (wherein R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, represent alkyl or aralkyl groups or jointly form with C4 a 5-10 membered ring which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more alkyl groups of 1-6 carbon atoms, R3 and R4 represent hydrogen atoms, R5 and R6, and X1 and X2, represent identical or different alkyl groups, n is an integer from 2 to 6, and Y1- and Y2- represent identical or different anions of inorganic or organic acids); the preparation thereof by quaternizing a compound of the formula <FORM:0823338/IV (a)/2> with a compound X1Y1 and/or a compound X2Y2, or by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0823338/IV (a)/3> with a compound of the formula <FORM:0823338/IV (a)/4> (wherein A1 represents an atom or group reactive with the N-substituted piperidine), and in either case, if desired, replacing Y1- and/or Y2- by another anion or anions, e.g. with the aid of an ion exchange resin; and pharmaceutical compositions containing the products (see Group VI). Bis-tertiary amines of the second general formula above are prepared by reducing cyclic amides of the formula <FORM:0823338/IV (a)/5> or by reacting a compound of the formula <FORM:0823338/IV (a)/6> with a compound of the formula <FORM:0823338/IV (a)/7>ALSO:Compositions for the treatment of hypertension, lung oedema or circulatory disorders comprise, in admixture with a compatible pharmaceutical carrier, one or more ganglion-blocking agents of the general formula <FORM:0823338/VI/1> wherein R1 and R2, which may be the same or different, represent alkyl or aralkyl groups or jointly form with C4 a 5-10 membered ring which is unsubstituted or substituted by one or more alkyl groups of 1-6 carbon atoms, R3 and R4 represent hydrogen atoms, R5 and R6, and X1 and X2 represent identical or different alkyl groups, n is an integer from 2 to 6, and Y1- and Y2- represent identical or different anions of inorganic or organic acids. The compositions may be in the form of ampoules, tablets, capsules or drops for oral administration, or an injectable form, e.g. in pyrogen-free water, for parenteral administration.
