Abstract

822,697. Umbrellas. WUSTER, H. April 9, 1958, No. 11300/58. Class 134 In an umbrella comprising a Crown and a cover cap detachably secured by means of a locking spring to a tubular stick the locking spring is accommodated in the stick and comprises two locking noses protruding from the end portion of the stick, one of which retains the crown in position and the other the cover cap. The end portion of the stick is grooved or of polygonal cross-section and extends through corresponding bores formed in the crown and over cap so that these members are not rotatable on the stick. As shown, the stick 1 is formed with a narrow end portion 1a of hexagonal cross-section. The crown 2, supported by a washer 5 is held securely between the shoulder of the stick and the nose 9 of the locking spring 8. The cover cap 3 is formed with a sleevelike portion 3a provided with an aperture in which the nose 10 of the locking spring engages. The crown 2 and cap 3 may consist entirely of plastc in which case the washer 5 may be dispensed with. The lower end of the spring is attached to the Stick at 7 or, as indicated in broken lines, at 7a. To enable the cap and crown to be reelased the cap is provided with one or more apertures 11 through which the locking nose 10 is accessible with the aid of appropriate tools.
