Abstract
822,376. Crates. BRITISH METAL CRATES Ltd. Dec. 20, 1957 [Feb. 13, 1957], No. 4848/57. Class 18. A bottle crate has a bottom formed of longitudinal and transverse wires 6, 7 respecttively welded where they cross, and a surrounding bottom frame 1 of larger diameter wire, to which none of the bottom wires are attached ; at least some of them are, however, attached to a boundary wire 8 of the same diameter as their own which lies at a higher level then the frame 1, and are welded to upright wires 9 and 10 of similar diameter in the crate walls. Spurs 3 at the comers assist stacking to zig-zag crossed wires 4, 5 define bottle compartments. In a modification (not shown), the wires 6 are not welded to the boundary wire 8 but are curled over it or rest on it, being braced in pairs by a further transverse wire. In another modification, the boundary wire 8 is dimpled to accommodate the wires 6 and 7.
