Abstract
821,263. Nuclear fuel elements. UNITED KINGDOM ATOMIC ENERGY AUTHORITY. Nov. 25, 1957 [Nov. 24, 1956], No. 36004/56. Drawings to Specification. Class 39(4). In a nuclear reactor, long fuel elements mounted vertically in channels in the reactor are prevented from bowing by a support which is carried on the fuel element and which engages the channel walls. The element has closely pitched helical fins and two rings, which are split and screwed along fins, are radially slotted to accommodate four vanes. The latter engage the channel walls at their edges and lie longitudinally along the element. The material of the rings and vanes is Mg/Mn 1-2% alloy.
