Abstract

820,859. Agricultural implements. HOWES, R. M. Dec. 14, 1955 [Dec. 15, 1954], No. 36343/54. Class 6(1). A plough for use in boundary ploughing comprises a frame 2 to which a tool holder 26 is attached by bolts in any of a plurality of positions, the tool holder being fitted with a plough 30 and coulter 31. A supporting structure 4 is bolted to the frame 2 and is connected to the three point linkage of a tractor and is transversely adjustable on the frame 2. When ploughing a field the structure 4 and the tool holder are mounted in the centre of the frame 2 and for boundary ploughing the machine is arranged as shown in Fig. 1. In this position an additional stay 45 is fitted to the frame. The plough 30 is connected to the holder 26 by two bolts 34, 35 and a smaller bolt 36 of a soft metal. When ploughing land fouled by obstructions the bolt 35 is removed so that on hitting an obstruction the plough may pivot rearwardly about the bolt 34, shearing the bolt 36. The structure 4 includes two members 5, 6 to the front of each of which is bolted a plate 18 provided with two pins 20, 21 of different sizes to suit linkages of different tractors. A pin fixed to the members 5 or 6 engages in one of a series of holes in the plate 18 to allow the plate to be angularly adjusted. When the pin 21 is to be used the position of the plate is reversed.
