Abstract
820,833. Sanitary closets. JOHNS & CO. Ltd., E., and STOTT, C. K. March 15, 1957 [March 17, 1956 ; March 13, 1957], Nos. 8397/56 and 8211/57. Class 26. In a water closet wherein a flushing cistern 1 is combined therewith as a suite, the cistern 1 being connected to a platform 4 and in communication with the latter by a flush pipe 20, the basin having two traps, and the space between them being provided with an air extraction pipe 23, arranged within the flushpipe 20, discharging into the basin, to initiate syphonic discharge of the basin, the base 3 of the cistern 1 has a recess 13 thereon in a middle position having an opening 29a which receives the end of the discharge conduit 17 of the syphon, which joins on to the flushpipe 20, containing the air extraction pipe 23, in the pocket. The recess 13, of trapezoidal form, is accessible from the rear for reception of the flushpipe 20, and has coaxial holes 29a, 30, whereby the flushpipe 20 is positioned to give liquid-tight joints at 22 and 24. Clamping means 5 are applied through holes 31 in the recess 13 to fasten the cistern 1 on to the platform 4. The recess 13 could extend laterally any distance up to the entire width of the cistern 1 with which it is preferably made integral in pottery, and could have a base practically coextensive with the length. It can be other than trapezoidal in shape. Specification 820,834 is referred to.
