Abstract
820,389. Railway hopper wagons. TALBOT, R. March 28, 1957 [June 16, 1956], No. 10203/57. Class 103(4) A self-discharging hoppered railway wagon is characterized in that the hopper opening or openings are so high above the rails that a lorry 6 or 7, Fig. 1, or a narrow gauge rail truck, substantially two metres high; can be driven underneath and the wagon load or part of it, discharged into the lorry or truck. The body 1 of the wagon is arched between the wheels 4, 5; has a longitudinal saddle 2, Fig. 2; and arcuate sliding doors 3 for the hoppers. The underside of the body may be fitted with rails from which a load carrying container may be suspended when the wagon is not being unloaded as described with reference to Fig. 3 (not shown). Such a container may then be deposited directly on to a lorry when positioned thereunder.
