Abstract
819,620. Screwing and tapping. HENRIKSSON, R. Oct. 15, 1957 [Oct. 15, 1956], No. 32230/57. Class 83 (3). [Also in Group XXXVII] Switches M, N, for reversing the three-phase current supplied to an electric motor which drives a tapping- or screwing-machine, become operative when the tool reaches predetermined limits during its upward or downward travel. The switches are mounted on a disc 6 which is driven, in common with a disc 5, from the machine, the latter disc having contact rings 8-11 co-operating with brushes for conveying current to the switches. A lever is coupled by a spring to the switch arms to provide snap action thereof. When, during rotation of the disc 6, the lever engages a cam 27 fixed to a rod 29, contacts x, z are closed to reverse the motor. Reversal of the motor is again effected when the lever engages a cam 28 to close contacts v, y. The position of the cam 28 is adjusted by a handle 32 which turns a friction-held disc 30 upon which the cam is mounted, thus determining the cutting depth of the tool. If the machine is to be used for drilling only, the switches M, N are short-circuited by a manually-operated switch.
