Abstract
819,526. Moulding concrete blocks &c. SNELL, R. G. Jan. 7, 1957 [Jan. 9, 1956], No. 641/56. Class 87(2). Apparatus for moulding concrete cavity wall building units comprises an upright support 1 for a pallet 3, mould box walls 4A, 4B slidably mounted on the support so as to be movable vertically between a raised position, Fig. 1, in which the walls and pallet together form a mould box and a lowered position in which the walls lie clear of the pallet and moulded unit so that the latter may be removed from the apparatus, and core means 7, 8 and 9 movable with the mould box walls and passing through apertures provided in the top of the support and in the pallet. The mould box walls are held in their raised position, Fig. 3, by opposed plunger rods 13 which are spring-urged apart so as to project through holes provided in the support walls. These plunger rods may be pushed inwards clear of the bottom edge of the mould casing 4 to permit lowering thereof by pivotal arms 14 mounted on the mould box walls and having operating handles 15. When it is desired to form a block having external and internal facing surfaces of different constitution from that of the main portion of the block, these can be moulded simultaneously with the block by the use of vertical partition members spaced the required distance from the side walls of the mould box.
