Abstract

818,646. Valves. KOPPERS G.m.b.H. Feb. 27, 1957 [March 7, 1956], No. 6533/57. Class 135. A flow-regulating stop cock comprises a housing 1 having an inlet 2 and an outlet 3 and a frusto-conical stop plug 7 having within it a second frusto-conical plug 8 for regulating the flow passage through the plug 7. A compression spring 28 is disposed between the inner plug 8 and the housing to press the sealing surfaces of the plugs and housing into interengagement, the spring being mounted on a non-rotatable mounting comprising a domed centering plate 27 and a ball 26. The outer plug 7 is rotated by means of a lever 13. The inner plug 8 is adjusted by means of a spindle 14 articuately connected to the plug by a pin 21, the outer end of the spindle 14 having a polygonal section 15 for engagement by a suitable key. A washer 16 rotatable with the spindle 14 is graduated with reference to a fixed pin 18 to indicate the degree of opening of the plug 8 relative to the plug 7. The washer 16 also carries two projections engageable with the pin 18 to limit the rotation of the plug 8. An orifice 29 is provided in the housing 1 for the injection of grease under pressure into the interior of the housing.
