Abstract
<PICT:0815640/III/1> A method of air-tightly sealing partition walls in buildings or in disused roads in mines, comprises applying to the wall a coherent coating by spraying simultaneously against the wall, a latex of polyvinylchloride or chloroprene polymers or other plastomers, or natural or synthetic rubber, and a material causing coagulation of the sprayed latex. The coagulating agent may be zinc acetate, calcium nitrate or calcium chloride. A spraying device for carrying out the method comprises a nozzle 1 for latex and a nozzle 2 for the coagulating agent, the nozzle 1 being nearer to the wall than the nozzle 2. The method is particularly applicable to obtaining air-tight fire barriers in coal roads. The method may also be used in the building industry wherever a seal against gas, water and substances in which the used latex is insoluble, is required.
