Class 52(2) A tubular metal chair has upstanding tubular members 5 with spaced holes 6 in their inner sides and between these members is mounted a back rest 7 with sides formed to channel section to embrace members 5 and having projections 8 secured by screws 9 to engage holes 6 the members 5 being sprung aside to allow engagement of the parts. In a modification members 5 are joined at their upper ends by an integral cross member and the projections in one channel are formed by spring-loaded plungers 11.
