Abstract

814,431. Bottling. ENOCK, A. G., and GRAHAM-ENOCK MANUFACTURING CO. Ltd. Dec. 20, 1957 [Jan. 24, 1957], No. 2569/57. Class 125(2). A filling valve for a bottle is operated by the bottle without the valve seat entering the neck of the bottle. In draw-off apparatus in which a vacuum is maintained above the liquid in a tank a the filling valve is formed, Fig. 1, by the upper surface k of a double conical section of the air tube i and an internal section n, normally seating on surface k, of a resiliant member d expanded onto a cylinder c depending from the liquid orifice in tank a. The lower part of member d is shaped to engage the mouth of the bottle which when raised lifts the section n from surface k and allows passage of liquid. The air tube is supported on cylinder c by fins j and fins q are provided to guide the upward movement of the lower part of the resiliant member d. For longer necked bottles, Fig. 3, the section n has an upper surface r seating against a corresponding surface s of the cylinder c which carries a member n on which slides a bottle guide v. From the lower part of the resiliant member d depends a cylinder t having openings t<SP>1</SP> at the lower end normally closed by the part i<SP>4</SP> of the air tube. Raising the bottle to contact the member d thus opens the filling valve and the orifices t<SP>1</SP>.
