Abstract

813,090. Windscreen wipers. ANDERSON CO. Sept. 26, 1957 [March 28, 1957], No. 30213/57. Class 138(1). A connector for a windscreen wiper blade comprises a housing for receiving an end of a wiper arm and resilient means carried by the housing also for receiving the end of the arm and having an abutment which interlocks with a projection on the arm. As shown, arm 10 has a projection 11 which engages in a hole 27 of a spring 13. This spring comprises an upper leg 25 having an offset portion 26 which bears against stops 22 on a housing 12, a lower leg portion 29 joined to leg 25 by bridge portion 30 and inturned pressure-distributing projections 31 the ends of which engage the edges of leg 25. The spring is held in position by fingers 16 on the housing 12 engaging projections 32 on the spring and by the stops 22. Arm 10 can be inserted into the spring in which it locks itself when projection 11 engages hole 27. To release the arm, pressure is applied to leg 29 which transmits the pressure by way of projections 31 to leg 25 (Fig. 7) deforming it and releasing projection 11.
