Abstract
812,729. Tentering. FAMATEX G.m.b.H. Sept. 14, 1956, No. 28225/56. Class 42 (1). [Also in Group VII] Undulations are produced in a strip B of woven material prior to tentering by passing it between an endless toothed belt 2 and a pulley 5 having a resilient rim, the belt and pulley running at a speed corresponding to that of a conveyer 4 for removing the strip. The depth of the undulations may be controlled by varying the speed of a feed roller 1 or by adjusting the position of the pulley 5. The latter may be freely suspended or carried by a swinging or sliding support and may be urged into contact with the belt by gravity or springs. A brush rim may be provided on the pulley and the conveyer 4 may have needles, as shown, or cooperating gripper members to engage the strip. The apparatus may include more than one belt and pulley. One or all of the parts 2, 4, 5 may be driven.
