Abstract

810,250. Roof ventilators; ventilator shaft terminals. HILLS (WEST BROMWICH) Ltd. Oct. 31, 1957 [Oct. 31, 1956], No. 33166/56. Classes 25 and 137 A roof ventilator fitted to the ridge of a building consists of a number of frames 6 of angled metal the upturned ends 6a of which are secured to the depending legs 4a of an inverted U-shaped supporting frame 4 fixed in the roof opening 3, internal baffles 11 and 12 and a covering 10 of corrugated metal which is attached to the frames 6. The baffles 11 and 12 are carried by inverted V-shaped supports 7 and 8 and the two sides 9 of the throat of the ventilator are formed of sheet metal which also serves as a weather seal at 9b where it covers the joint between the roof and the ventilator, at 9a where the sheet is sandwiched between the depending leg 4a and the frame 6a, and at 9c where the sheet is bent to form a baffle which deflects rain or snow entering through the gap between the edge 10b of the covering and the wall of the ventilator throat.
