Abstract

586,525. Ventilators. PEVERLEY, R. ST. L. June 28, 1944, No. 12271. [Class 137] An extraction ventilator for a horizontal or inclined roof comprises a continuous shield 2' of uniform cross-section having an unrestricted opening at the top the edges of which lie in a single horizontal plane, a damper 6 hinged to a frame member of the roof and operating means therefor to regulate the flow of heated air through the. ventilating aperture, an air space being provided between the top of the shield and rain-catching means therein. The rain-catching means may also prevent the emission of light and may comprise two overlapping rows of louvres 3, 4 as shown in Fig. 2 or only one row of louvres or a pitched cover member. Any rain escaping through the louvres (of which various crosssections are shown), will be carried away by the damper 6 which is always inclined upwardly from its hinge line 7.
