[Also in Groups XIII and XXV] A cooling tower is provided with packings made of coconut fibres. In the preferred embodiment, mats or cloths 10 made from plaited, woven, knotted or felted fibres or yarns are provided with metal strips bulged between their ends which are secured to the mat to form eyes for engagement with hooks 13 carried by beams 12. Each hook has an integral clamping part 14 and pointed parts 15 to engage the beam. Double hooks may be provided on the two inner series of beams 12 to support a central series of mats.
