Abstract
805,325. Resilient mountings; rail vehicle undercarriages. METALASTIK, Ltd. Aug. 24, 1956 [Nov. 22, 1955], No. 33493/55. Classes 103(6) and 108(3) The invention relates to a spring support for a bolster 5 by means of rubber blocks 8 in combined shear and compression, from a bogie frame 6, the blocks being arranged in pairs at respective ends of the bolster 5. According to the invention, the blocks 8 of each pair are spaced lengthwise of the bolster and overlap so that their compression axes, within the length of the blocks, are in X-formation. As shown, each end of the bolster is formed with transverse platelike members 7 to form a pair of cells, in each of which lies one of the resilient support blocks. Each of the latter is disposed between a partition 9 rigid with adjacent members 7, and a member 11 rigid with the sole bar 10 of the bogie frame, or with a plate 13 upstanding from a bridge piece 12 carried by the transoms 6 of the bogie frame. Each block 8 comprises a pair of elements 14 separated by a metal plate 15. Each pair of plates 15 are rigid with a coupling plate 16. Each element 14 may be provided with metal interleaves. In a modified construction (Figs. 1 and 2, not shown, of the Complete Specification) each block 8 of the pair is disposed on respective sides of the sole bar 10. In a further alternative, both blocks may be disposed outside the sole bar. Specification 648,516 is referred to.
