Abstract

804,824. Medicament containers. NADAL, H. S. Sept. 21, 1956 [Sept. 22, 1955; Sept. 11, 1956], No. 28879/56. Class 81 (2). [Also in Group XVII] A container having two compartments for separately storing substances, for example a serum and a powder, is constructed such that the pressure in one compartment can be increased by a deformable cover to displace a closure member between the two compartments and permit mixing of the contents. In Fig. 2 the upper container 16 is of resilient material and has a stopper 17 in its lower face. By squeezing the container 16 the pressure therein increases and the stopper 17 is ejected. By repeated squeezing of the container 16 a pumping cycle can be effected to transfer liquid from the container 16 into the lower container 10. A spout 20 may be included which, when cut, will enable the mixture to be dispensed in drops. In Fig. 7 a one-piece container 43 has a narrowed intermediate zone 44 in which fits a disc 46 containing the stopper 17. The container is closed by a flat or protruding portion 42 of elastic material that can be deformed to increase the pressure in the upper part of the container 43 to cause the stopper 17 to be ejected. In an alternative embodiment the container shown in Fig. 7 is in two portions secured together with a disc 46 therebetween. Fig. 9 shows a construction with an upper flexible diaphragm 22 and an inner container 16 with its stopper 17 remote from its base portion 52. In all cases, the stopper 17 may be spherical instead of the truncated form shown.
